To study gain of function mutations in GABAA receptors (GABR). This will include 10 representative mutations in GABR subunit genes.
The goal of this project is to:

- define if the functional receptor is reduced or increased in the mutant subunit containing
GABAA receptors; - to determine if 4 phenylbutyrate can be beneficial for those gain of function GABAA receptors.

CURE GABA-A Grant Policy: Indirect Costs
Policy Statement:
CURE GABA-A is committed to maximizing the impact of every dollar spent on research and related activities. To ensure that our funds are utilized in the most effective way possible, CURE GABA-A does not pay for indirect costs when awarding grants.
Purpose:
The purpose of this policy is to ensure that the financial resources provided by CURE GABA-A are directed towards direct costs that contribute explicitly to the objectives of the funded project. Indirect costs, also known as overhead or facilities and administrative (F&A) costs, are expenses that are not directly attributable to a specific project or activity. These can include administrative salaries, facility maintenance, and utilities.

Grant Applications:

- Applications including indirect costs will not be considered for funding.
- All applicants must submit budgets that exclude any indirect costs.
Allowable Expenses:
CURE GABA-A funding may be used only for direct costs that are necessary and specific to the project being proposed. This includes but is not limited to:

- Salaries and benefits for project staff
- Equipment and supplies essential to the research
Compliance:

- Institutions and organizations receiving grants from CURE GABA-A are required to comply with this policy and ensure that no indirect costs are charged to the funds awarded.
Review and Monitoring:

- CURE GABA-A reserves the right to review budgets and financial reports to ensure compliance with this policy. Any non-compliance may result in the withdrawal of funding or other actions as deemed necessary by CURE GABA-A.
